Incorporated in 1914, the Town of Dubois is located along the Big Wind River with Wind River Mountain Range south and Absaroka Mountains north in Fremont County, Wyoming. The population according to 2010 census is 971 though it nearly doubles in the summer. The Town has a total area of 3.43 square miles. It’s an area of striking contrasts from badlands east of town, to high peaks south, north and west. Dubois offers convenient, modern services and amenities to both residents and visitors. The town park is equipped with a playground, tennis courts, skate park and a beautiful, tree laden area for picnicking. The Wind River south of the park is bordered by a walkway used by residents and visitors alike.
In Dubois time seems to move at a slower pace. The rustic log buildings that line main street look much as they did when town was first settled in late 1800's. Native Americans, fur traders, homesteaders, outlaws, and Scandinavian tie hacks are all part of the area's diverse cultural heritage.
